F.J. Kashanian is a family owned business that has been in business for several generations. Currently the company is managed by Firouz Kashanian and his son Jonathan. And Firouz's wife Gilda, is the company's lead rug designer.

The company's history spans back four generations, across six cities, four nations and three continents. Originally F.J. Kashanian was founded in Meshed, Iran in the heart of the textile industry. A few year later the owners of the company moved to the capital city of Tehran with hopes of expanding their blossoming business. In the early years, much of F.J. Kashanian's manufacturing was done in Germany, Italy and other parts of Europe.

In 1979 the Iranian government was overthrown by religious zealots and the Ayatollah Khomeini. As millions fled the turmoil of the Iranian Revolution, the Kashanian family refused to let their creation die, through their relentless efforts, they were able to transfer their business to the United States, and plant their headquarters in the great city of New York. The company then moved the majority of their manufacturing operations to India, notably the Agra, Kashmir, and Amratsar regions.

What has kept our family in business for so long is our dedication to customer service and impeccable quality. We only use the most pure, worsted, New Zealand wool we can find, which is the strongest and longest lasting wool in the world. Our wool is not mixed, which prevents loss in softness and sheen, making our rugs as beautiful as they possibly can be and prevents any allergic reactions that our customer may fear.

Gilda's designs take inspiration from the most popular and famous traditional designs from antique Persian and Agra rugs. Gilda is renowned for her ability to add color and modern liveliness to classical styles, which is what truly places F.J. Kashanian on a separate plane than other rug manufacturers. This unique style has not been overlooked within our industry, F.J. Kashanian has been the recipient of a America's Magnificent Rugs Award ten times."Best Handmade Carpet" (1998, 2000) "Retailer's Favorite Choice Award", (2004, twice in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
